Mike Sain   Farmington Hills MI

Comments: Great site with lots of wonderful memories. If it's okay with you I would like to occasionally use some of this info on my radio show on WPON. WPON is basically an oldies radio station featuring songs from the 50s and 60s. Our goal is to play music you don't hear anywhere else. Most of the day is filled with one- or two-hour music shows sprinkled with a few talk shows. There is a finance show, a sports show, etc. We are on the internet at www.wpon.com 24 hours a day.
My show is called the Insane World of Mike Sain and I am on from 9-10 am every Wednesday morning.

Mark Shanks   Portland OR

Comments: Great site! Here's a few more for You Know You're From Detroit If...: You pronounce "Lahser" as "Lasher." You remember Morgus doing the weather every day at 5:55 pm. You remember the "Town Drive-In" on Telegraph before Korvette's was there. You got your deli stuff at Kowalski's Your dad used to burn the autumn leaves in the street (and paper trash in a barrel behind your garage) You remember the first night WKNR (Keener 13) broadcast (Halloween, 1963) Wow, what memories, and what a site!

Alan Shapiro   Los Angeles CA

Kathleen McQueen Sharpe   Huntington WV

Comments: I was home this past weekend and wondered about Milky's show. Of course, found it online, then found your site. I actually got to go the Milky the Clown show because my neighbor was Mary Lou who played the piano for the show. I got to pick a prize from the toy board or whatever, my friend did a trick with Milky. We got to see the show the following weekend.
I just remember seeing myself in the stands looking a little bored after the Diver Dan cartoon. I even got to meet Soupy. He visits Huntington all the time and I met him in line at the grocery store, understand he has been in hospital but is doing better. Just
wanted to say Hi. Love your site.

Gail Herteg Shaw   Troy MI

Robin Sindici   Livonia MI

Comments: Your website is GREAT.
I shared it with a lot of friends in Michigan and my out-of-state friends from Michigan. When I lived in San Diego, CA for two years, they had an annual Michigan Reunion Party at a hall with Stroh's Beer, Mackinac Fudge, and Vernor's. About a 1,000 people showed up. My best friends in San Diego were from Detroit area and I met them there.
I used to go to the Grande Ballroom all the time, and have 48 of the small post cards, and Gary Grimshaw signed all the ones he created. I also lived in Denver, CO for 6 yrs. Sad to say I was defending Detroit all the time because we were then known as "Murder City." But when my out-of-state friends came to visit, they thought Detroit was great.

Comments: Sure brings back old memories. I love it. Would you believe I was married on Belle Isle in the old skating pavilion. Danced at the Grande Ballroom. Skipped school one day to have a hot fudge sunday at Saunders when it was at the corner of Grand Blvd, across from Northwestern HS. Those were the days when we thought we never would grow up fast enough.

Ralph Terrana
Comments: I'm a former Detroiter now living in California. My brother sent me your website today, and although I haven't had time to go through it in it's entirety, I must say I am impressed. I would like to make you aware of the web-site www.soulfuldetroit.com. It is a web-site dedicated to Motown and other great R&B music cities. The site originatd out of Glasgow, Scotland concieved by David Meikle of Glasgow and Lowell Boileau of Farmington MI. There are many interesting webisodes to view. They even did one on me with the Tera Shirma Story. The forum is very popular and attracts people from all over the world. I took the liberty of posting the URL of your fine web-site there. I'm sure it will be enjoyed by many, many people who are fascinated with all things Detroit. Feel free to drop in and say hello. Once again, very well done.

Comments: Everything you wrote there and more! I also remember the Faygo ad with Hal Peary (who played the great Guildersleeve) leading a group of people singing "Faygo remembers" on the
Bob-Lo boat. Also "Stereo Island" (WKNR-FM), the "Keener" Ball Point Pens (a treasured prize from the good old days), the Walled Lake Amusement park (they advertised the two together sometimes) -- Walled Lake had a rickety old roller coaster that scared me half to death. Also add Danny's Foods, Great Scot!, Chatham, Lucky's, Wrigleys, and Food Fair (with S&H Green Stamps). Thanks for a wonderful site!
