THANKSGIVING PARADE
by Jim Heddle

Thanksgiving morn, the TV's on, I'm sitting on the floor
The smell of turkey cooking, I hear Grandma at the door.

There's lots to do, but I am glued right to that TV set
For the Thanksgiving Parade with Sonny Eliot!

The bands, the floats, the clowns on bikes - Hey! There's Christmas Carol
And Santa Claus in his big red suit, his tummy like a barrel

The parade is a tradition, and I'd still be watching, but...
I miss my favorite funny host, ol' Sonny Eliot!

Memories of growing up around metro Detroit in the '50s, '60s and '70s
Who remembers that
Sonny owned a bar called
'Sonny's Weather Station' at Detroit City Airport?

Well, this is the front of
a t-shirt from that establishment...

Below, is the back.

Gotta love our wacky Sonny!
