NOW SHOWING at the DETROIT HISTORICAL MUSEUM
DETROIT: THE REEL STORY A small theatre in the gallery is now showing this seven-minute video documentary about going to the movies in metro Detroit. It showcases the rich history of Detroit’s vast network of theaters, large and small, chains and independents, ethnic and specialty venues and little known cinemas from the early part of the twentieth century through today’s multiplexes. The exhibit also explores some of the “extras” — from popcorn to 3-D glasses that made the moviegoing experience so memorable for millions of patrons.
