WHO AM I?

I was born in Detroit and spent my earliest years living with my mother

in an upstairs flat on Hazelwood Street in the North End.

I attended Hutchins Intermediate School and graduated from Cass Tech,

where I studied fashion illustration. After graduation, I worked

in the printing department at the J.L. Hudson Company,

eventually getting a second job at the Patricia Stevens Modeling School.

After modeling in Dallas and a stint as a showgirl on The Jackie Gleason Show,

I studied acting with Lee Strasberg at the Actor’s Studio.

I am one of a handful of actors to have won the Triple Crown of Acting:

an Academy Award, a Tony Award and an Emmy.
